A sweet, fortified aperitif which is made by adding Cognac to unfermented grape juice to halt any fermentation activity.
Pineau was born by accident in the 16th century when a dreamy and distracted wine maker filled a barrel with wine must which contained some cognac. The wine grower forgot about the barrel in the cellar, only to discover this beautiful aperitif some years later.
Domaine Gardrat Pineau des Charentes Rosé is characterised by very fruity notes, particularly cherry. Its bouquet is an explosion of black fruits such as blackcurrant and morello cherry. Sublime flavours with notes of spices. Pineau des Charentes Rosé is both intense and elegant and is ideal as an aperitif. It will accompany all hard cheeses and chocolate desserts.
